Journey to Quench that Insatiable Thirst for Knowledge

2010 Year in review and 2011

2010 Year-end trip in Boracay island, Philippines

While reviewing my 2010 bucket list, other things I’ve done and people I have encountered, I feel fortunate to literally be on the earth alive. In a large scheme of life overall, minor things do not seem to concern me anymore. Do I want to sit on the rocking chair, or will I be willing to lift that heavy chair and keep moving forward? I’ve just got back from a trip in Boracay with my mother while visiting Korea. On the way to get my morning coffee at the Starbucks in Philippines, we saw this 7th annual Boracay 5K, 10K races. With only my swimsuit and no shoes, I was reluctant to attend this event even though, inside of my mind, I thought it could be a great end for the year 2010 and to see more of the island on foot.

I decided to do the 5K and finished the race strong. It was enjoyable running along the beach, yet very challenging to run bare-feet on the main street area with lots of small pebbles everywhere. “Ouch! ouch!” However, I kept talking to myself that I must finish this race over regardless of the pain and start the new year 2011 as a stronger person in my body, mind and soul. Just like Percy Cerutty once said, “Run hard, be strong, think big!”

” Every man should be born again on the first day of January.  Start with a fresh page.  Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.”

Happy New Year 2011, everyone!
